Stainless Steel Cookware: Professional Chef Magazines

by Robin Holland-Smith

Like a lot of other people, your cupboards are probably full of mis-matched pots and pans. Whenever you try to find a particular pot or saucepan, you're probably going to find one that's too small, too big, too shallow, too deep, or at the very worst, rusted or damaged. Maybe the time has come to replace all of those low quality pots and pans with a set of high-quality steel pots and pans!

A great selection for cookware is stainless steel. Other cookware materials such as copper or aluminum simply do not have the special properties that it does. It will not be damaged by foods, no matter what the ph balance is. It resists corrosion, scratches, and other damages. Properly cared for stainless steel is shiny and beautiful, adding a gourmet look to your kitchen.

Stainless steel cookware's quality can largely be determined by its ability to provide an excellent cooking experience. In order to achieve this, when selecting any stainless steel cookware, be sure to look for a disk of material which is heat-conducive, and is located on the bottom of the cookware. While stainless is an excellent choice for cookware; it needs to be combined with aluminium or copper. Of these choices, copper is a better conductor of heat.

Secondly, you will want to select the right non-stick coating. If you choose well, a non-stick coating will not only help you produce beautiful browned crusts and to ensure your food lifts out with ease, but will also extend the life of your cookware, since it provides an extra barrier against damage.

A good choice for non-stick cookware is to select a Teflon coating. Teflon is durable, inexpensive and relatively easy to find. Not only is Teflon safe, but it will ensure that your foods brown evenly. If Teflon is unavailable, another great alternative is Silverstone. While more expensive, and harder to locate, Silverstone is more durable and can endure more scratching with hard utensils.

When you're in the market for stainless steel cookware, don't base your decision on price alone. Try checking out brands and reviews of products you're considering. Cooking and chef magazines, as well as consumer sites on the Internet, hold plenty of information about different brands of stainless steel cookware.

The best kind of cookware is stainless steel cookware. Stainless steel is an excellent material for cookware when a little aluminum or copper have been added to help with heating. These pots and pans will not be affected by what you cook. The pans are also resistant to scratches and dents. The best non stick cookware is Teflon. When cared for properly, Teflon will keep food from sticking to the pan. Silverstone is another type of nonstick surface that is more durable than Teflon. Do some research before buying to get the best deal and quality.
