Free Yourself with Digital Wireless Headphones

by Urbain Beck

If you are energized by listening to your favorite music or podcasts when cleaning the house, dusting the office or exercising, but do not like being attached to your stereo, iPod or other player with a cord, then you will enjoy the mobility offered by digital wireless headphones.

Digital wireless headphones are connected to your electronic gadgets with a mini-jack. Many wireless headphones manufacturers will include a digital input as well as a regular RCA or mini-jack in the headphones package. This feature is required if you plan to use your headphones with your CD player, mini disc or DVD.

Excellent Sound Quality.

Not only will they free you from a cord, digital wireless headphones are known for their excellent sound quality. Most wireless headphones use infrared technology to transmit and receive the signal. Some use a radio frequency instead. These frequency signals are sent as a raw analog transmission.

The signal is transmitted and received by digital wireless headphones with a digitally encoded signal. This process reduces or eliminates the hissing sound that is sometimes associated with analog transmissions. If sound quality is important to you, digital wireless headphones are the best option.

If you plan to use digital wireless headphones with your car or home theater system, look for models that include built-in Dolby decoders and surround sound. While these types of digital wireless headphones are more expensive, they will give you the best sound.

Consider Your Power Source.

Your digital wireless headphones need power in order to operate. The majority of wireless headphones use a transmitter that plugs into the wall. Typically, the headset will be powered by batteries which are stored in the headset itself.

Should you plan on using your digital wireless headphones a lot, consider getting rechargeable batteries. Doing so can save you a lot of money in the long run.

Audiovox, Sony and Bose are popular manufacturers of wireless digital headphones.
