Make Your Home Seem Grander with a Crystal Chandelier

by Wyatt Fisk

A chandelier is a light fixture with branches that support crystal light bulbs, or in earlier times, candles, which hangs from the ceiling. Chandeliers are often associated with opulence and elegance, having grown popular during the Middle Ages in the European and American continents, when ballrooms and bedrooms are often portrayed in books and in movies as lit up with chandeliers. Today, it is not uncommon to see commercial centers and even homes furnished with a crystal chandelier, thus carrying out the elegant tradition.

Chandeliers will always be associated with opulence and class but contemporary chandeliers are actually more affordable now that any home owner could invest in one. From simple candle holders when they were first invented, chandeliers are now made or crystals, wood, wrought iron, and other more modern materials. Although they continue to evolve, it would always be true that chandeliers are a source of light and delight to every family.

Chandeliers will make a fine addition to convert the plainest of rooms to a palatial hall. They are designed to be the centerpiece and the main attraction. The best places to install a crystal chandelier are in your main sitting room, the living room, entryways, the study room, the hallway, and even in the kitchen and dining rooms. They do not necessarily have to be your main source of light. Chandeliers are often used to complement any room's lighting.

We commonly see the likes of a crystal chandelier or an antique chandelier in hotel rooms and hallways, shopping malls, restaurants, and other establishments. But with today's more economical costs, anyone can have his very own chandelier in his home. It is an interesting and unique way to improve your home decor.

It is okay to make a crystal chandelier a room's main source of light but more experienced designers suggest blending its glow with other smaller, surrounding lights. Certain combinations can enhance your room's look no matter what the decor. Chandeliers come in many different designs, too. Glass artists use lead, Murano, and other types of crystals to create chandeliers. More contemporary materials like wrought iron are also used.

Contemporary chandeliers are sure to further enhance your house's decor. Whether you get a crystal chandelier, an antique chandelier, or any other kind, chandeliers can add elegance and class to any room of the house. Choose from hundreds of chandelier designs available. Plan where to put your chandelier with care to maximize its effect.
