The Vegetarian Mediterranean Taco Takes Down The House!

by Shea Suzer

Lately in Wellington, Florida (one of South Florida's many popular areas), I have been eating a lot of flavorful burritos. I think I have tried all of different styles for burritos and have decided to move on to tacos! I was initially very excited. If tacos were even half as delicious as the burritos I had been eating recently then I was in for a treat. In retrospect though, I was wholly unprepared for what followed. I have never had a taco taste as good as the vegetarian mediterranean taco before in my life! I don't know what I was expecting, but this was not it!

It was off to a fantastic start when I saw them lay out three soft flour tortillas. The dough looked absolutely incredible and my mouth was already watering. I was glad that it looked as if I was not going to leave hungry!

Then I was given the choice of any meat that I wanted. I was even able to add chicken and steak together, at no extra charge! Their other options included pork and chicken breast, all of which looked scrumptious!

The next step was a rare black bean hummus. This is where the protein was for the vegetarians! And wow was it incredible. I've never seen anything quite like it!

When I saw they they were loading on diced tomatoes, my excitement was full throttle. I am a huge tomato fan. I think they really bring so much to a meal, and when she told me that South Florida cuisine bought their tomatoes through local farmers, I was hugely impressed.

When I got to the cheeses, my eyes widened. Cheese is probably one of my favorite delicacies ever, and I was overwhelmed with choices. When I asked what they suggested for the mediterranean, the employees all recommended parmesan. They really knew what they were talking about!

I was more than willing to accept another suggestion of cucumbers. This ingredient ended up being one of my favorites in the whole taco dish. It gave the taco a coolness that it would have otherwise been without!

At last, you're at the sauce station. This is a very important station, and for the mediterranean, means you will be getting the balsamic vinaigrette. Wellington's balsamic vinaigrette is the perfect sauce for this taco dish!

My eyes, then my stomach feasted on the piquant steak mediterranean taco. Only when experiencing South Florida restaurants can you really taste chicken burritos as flavorful as this. I will for sure be a returning customer!
